Liebe Teilnehmer und Freunde von Rad am Ring,

wir werden die 24-Stunden Rennen von Rad am Ring absagen – ebenfalls das Zeitfahren und die Tourenfahren.

Die Austragung der Jedermann-Rennen und des Mountainbike-Marathons ist nach unserer aktuellen Informationslage am 25. Juli nicht unwahrscheinlich. Wir wissen, dass zu Outdoor-Sport und Großveranstaltungen in den nächsten Wochen konkrete Informationen folgen, auf Basis derer wir dann besser und immer noch rechtzeitig entscheiden können.

Sollte auch für die Disziplinen eine Absage richtig werden, werden wir sicher ähnlich dem verfahren, was ich jetzt zu den 24h-Rennen, Tourenfahren und Zeitfahren sagen werde.

Die Organisation der Absagen und die Rückerstattungen erfolgen aus organisatorischen Gründen über unseren Dienstleister Abavent. Von dort bekommt ihr demnächst eine weitere E-Mail mit erneut allen Informationen und zusätzlich Handlungshinweisen – vor allem aber mit dem direkten Link in euren individuellen Datensatz. Klingt kompliziert, wird aber einfach sein.

Erlaubt mir aber noch ein paar mir wichtige, persönliche Anmerkungen:

1. Die Entscheidungen fielen auf Basis maximal möglicher Informationen, intensiven Diskussionen im Team, mit Teilnehmern und allerlei Fachleuten. Und unter Berücksichtigung der allgemeinen Stimmungslage in der Gesellschaft, bei euch und bei uns.
2. Wir haben zu keinem Zeitpunkt damit gespielt, eure Gesundheit oder die von Mitarbeitern und Dienstleistern nur im Geringsten zu gefährden
3. Wir hatten auch niemals im Sinne, gesetzliche Vorgaben oder Empfehlungen zu beugen oder gar zu brechen
4. Ihr seid uns wichtig: als Menschen, Mitbürger, Teilnehmer von heute und Teilnehmer von morgen

Alleine aus dem letzten Grund wäre es nicht sehr sinnvoll, Entscheidungen zu treffen, die von euch missbilligt werden oder nicht nachvollzogen werden könnten.

Ich hoffe, ihr könnt unter Berücksichtigung der eben erwähnten 4 Handlungsprämissen, unsere Entscheidungen nachvollziehen. Wir brauchen euer Verständnis dafür, weil wir auch euer Entgegenkommen benötigen. Die Situation sieht folgendermaßen aus:

1. Ihr habt Anspruch auf vollständige Rückzahlung der Teilnehmergebühren
2. Der Paragraf „Höhere Gewalt“ unserer AGB ist nicht anwendbar
3. Da wir als kleine 5-Mann-Agentur nicht jährlich viele verschiedene Projekte just-in-time organisieren, sondern an Rad am Ring 2020 bereits seit Sommer 2019 arbeiten und Rad am Ring mittlerweile rund 85 Prozent unseres Jahresumsatzes ausmacht, reichen unsere liquiden Mittel nach 8 Monaten Vorarbeit für nur rund 50 % Rückerstattung der bis dato eingegangenen Gebühren
4. Mit einem erheblichen privaten Beitrag können wir die Rückzahlungsquote auf 70 % steigern. (weitere Infos hierzu in der Video-Erklärung)
5. Um aber überleben zu können, bitten wir euch intensiv auf die restlichen 30 % zu verzichten
6. Das erwarten wir selbstverständlich nicht von Personen, die durch die Corona-Krise selbst in Not geraten sind
7. Allerdings reicht die 70%-Quote nur dann, wenn wirklich alle mitmachen, die dies verschmerzen können
8. Über das oben angekündigte E-Mail von Abavent könnt ihr demnächst eure Entscheidung diesbezüglich direkt in eurem Datensatz hinterlegen.
9. An der Stelle möchte ich mich auch herzlich bei meinem Team und meinem Umfeld bedanken. Für uns alles ist das gerade nicht leicht und es ist schön, wenn Mitarbeiter wie echte Freunde handeln

Kurz noch ein paar Worte zu meinem Selbstverständnis.

Auch wenn die aktuelle Lage für mich persönlich ein emotionales und wirtschaftliches Desaster bedeutet, möchte ich nicht klagen. Kein Mensch hat mich gezwungen, Rad am Ring zu organisieren. Und mein Schicksal liegt auf der Weltscala immer noch im grünen Bereich. Es gibt sicher auch ein Leben ohne Rad am Ring – ich wäre euch aber dankbar, wenn ihr mir und uns dabei helfen könnt, dass das nicht schon 2021 sein muss. Ich würde die Rad am Ring-Familie eben doch sehr vermissen. Lasst uns zurückkommen! Auf Wiedersehen am Nürburgring!

Dear participants and friends of Rad am Ring,

we will cancel the 24-hour races of Rad am Ring – also the time trial and the touring rides.

According to our current information, it is not unlikely that the amateur races and the mountain bike marathonswill take place on July 25. We know that more detailed information on outdoor sports and major events will be given in the coming weeks, on the basis of which we will be able to make better and still timely decisions.

Should it be necessary to cancel these disciplines as well, we will certainly proceed similarly to what I will now tell you about the 24h races, touring rides and time trials.

For organizational reasons, the processing of cancellations and refunds will be handled by our service provider Abavent. From them, you will soon receive another e-mail with all information needed and some additional instructions – but most of all with a direct link to your individual data record. Sounds complicated but will be easy.

Please allow me to make a few personal remarks that are important to me:

1. The decisions were made on the basis of the maximum of information available, as a result of intensive discussions within the team, with participants and all kinds of experts. And after taking into account the overall mood of the society, of you and of us.
2. At no time did we consider endangering your health or that of our employees and service providers
3. We have never had the intention to bend or even break legal requirements or disregard recommendations
4. You are important to us: as people, fellow citizens, participants of today and participants of tomorrow

For the last reason alone, it would not make much sense to make decisions that you disapprove of or do not understand.

I hope that you can understand our decisions, taking into account the 4 premises of action just mentioned. We need you to understand them, because we also need you to cooperate. The situation is as follows:

1. You are entitled to a full refund of the registration fee.
2. The paragraph “force majeure” of our GTC is not applicable.
3. Since we are a small 5 person agency and do not organize many different projects just-in-time every year, but have been working on 2020 Rad am Ring since summer 2019 and Rad am Ring has grown to account for around 85 percent of our annual turnover, after 8 months of preparatory work our liquid funds are sufficient for only around a 50 % reimbursement of the fees received to date.
4. With a contribution of around € 150,000 to secure the future of our GmbH at private risk, we can increase the repayment rate to 70 %.
5. In order to survive, we therefore kindly ask you to abstain from 30 % of your registration fee.
6. Of course we do not expect this voluntary waiver from people who have suffered hardship due to the Corona crisis themselves.
7. However, the 70 % quota is only sufficient to save our company, if everyone who can afford it, abstains from 30 % of their paid fees.
8. Via the Abavent e-mail announced above that you will receive soon it is possible to make your decision directly in your data record.

Just a few words about my self-image.

Even if the current situation is an emotional and economic disaster for me personally, I do not want to complain. Nobody forced me to organize Rad am Ring. And compared to many other people around the world, I am still doing ok. There is certainly a life without Rad am Ring – but I would be grateful if you supported me and us to make sure that this life without Rad am Ring does not already start in 2021. I would miss the Rad am Ring family very much after all. Let’s come back!
