New at Rad am Ring

Gravel-Race for all levels

Cool dudes own gravel bikes – and, of course, ride them. One enticing chance to do so will be at the new Gravel-Race, which will make its debut at next year’s Rad am Ring. The “patron” of this event is none other than German gravel icon Paul Voß, who has been actively supporting us in developing the concept for the Rad am Ring Gravel-Race. This new discipline is now a part of the cycling festival. The race will start around noon on Saturday as part of the Grand Depart, where we’ll send thousands of participants into the “Green Hell.” The gravel course is about 28 kilometers long, with approximately 750 meters of elevation gain, making it slightly challenging. Some sections run on Nürburgring asphalt, while others lead over rough terrain alongside the legendary Nordschleife. Gravel riders can choose from three options: a one-lap “trial” race, a two-lap race, or a four-lap race. For the long-distance race, we’re offering an attractive monetary prize. “The course, location, and philosophy of Rad am Ring suit both event-oriented hobby riders and ambitious elite athletes. We’ve proven multiple times that we can handle this balancing act well, and with Paul (Voß) on board, we have plenty of gravel expertise,” says event director Hanns-Martin Fraas.
